Moab Part II

On Monday we woke for another day of some Mountain Biking. I was going to give it another shot. We made some hefty breakfast burritos after we completed another 4 miler. The running is feeling great and my leg is holding strong. It feels amazing to be back at it again.
For this mountain bike jaunt, we were able to climb right from our campsite to the Slick Rock Trail.

Man, I did the practice loop and it was not forgiving for those wanting to 'practice.' This terrain is hard and I have not quite gotten the hang of it.

I called it a day at the end of the shorter loop and we made our way down the hill. We stopped back by the cycle shop to return the bikes where Adam picked out a new one.... a used Mountain Bike for a good price. He has been in the market for a very long time, and the man finally bit the bullet. I was so happy for him... he deserved it. His current Trek is from his high school days.

After the big purchase, we headed to the climbing wall to get in a few good climbs before the trip was over. Definitely not like limestone, but more of a grippy, friction surface.

Next we delved into some driving to SLC to make half the drive before going back to Lander. We love to stop in SLC to stay with Adam's childhood friend and also eat at our favorite breakfast place of all time, Ruth's

Their buttery biscuits and the shared Banana Walnut French Toast really helped end the vacation with a bang

  1. Wow, my sister sent me your post from CNC and it basically describes exactly where I am...except I just have a strained adductor that has sidelined me and I'm only a week in. But I was so encouraged in reading about your journey and am also grateful for this wake-up call, coming off 80-mile weeks and verging on overly-running-obsessed. Looking forward to following your blog!

    1. Bekah,
It is so nice to hear from you. I am glad your sister sent the post along. It is nice to get my story out there and then realize there are so many of you in the same boat. It is an easy sport to get caught up in and in the end, we really need to take to heart, being nice to our bodies. Just getting back on the road has been the most incredible feeling and none of this would have happened if I hadn't been injured so I think it is safe to say, it is a blessing in disguise. If there is anything you want to chat about,I would be happy to lend an ear. I have most likely been there.
      Thanks for reaching out.
      Hope you enjoy
      P
